Pedal Power

garden in front of home filled with wild flower and foliage

By now, the Googleplex is well known for its fleet of multi-colored bicycles reserved for on-the-go Googlers. But biking and the Bay Area have a long history together, leading the Los Altos History Museum to shine the spotlight on other Bay Area bikes – from old-school Sting-Rays to early road-racers to work-horse bikes for soldiers – in a temporary exhibit on "Pedal Power" that just might inspire you to dust off your 10-speed and take a spin. The exhibit is on view through October 5, 2014. A historic bike tour, naturally, is on the museum's agenda on September 28, 2014. Admission is free.

Address: 51 S. San Antonio Rd., Los Altos
