ART FOR ART'S SAKE

Want to see the largest collection of Rodin sculpture outside of Paris? It’s just minutes away at Stanford’s Cantor Arts Center. You can see that, and everything from ancient works from Africa to post-WW2 American art, as well as several ongoing contemporary exhibitions. Admission is free and on many days there’s a scheduled tour or two.

Wander through the outdoor sculpture garden or explore a temporary exhibit from the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, whose own building is closed for renovations, including works by Salvador Dalí and Marcel Duchamp. If you get hungry, the Center has a café where you can grab a bite along with a glass of wine or a cold beer. The Cantor Center is on the beautiful campus of Stanford University, adjacent to the Oval Park, which is a lovely walk unto itself.

Address: 328 Lomita Drive at Museum Way, Stanford, CA 94305
